David's Story

David Bell, a service-connected disabled veteran, found himself homeless in 2019 but turned adversity into opportunity. Unemployed until funding ran out, he discovered a job opportunity as a housing specialist for veterans. With a background in property management, he now passionately serves with PATH, People Assisting the Homeless. Despite experiencing homelessness six times, he embraces the gratitude and resilience that emerged from the struggle, acknowledging the role of pride and adaptability.

In the quiet neighborhood of Chula Vista, nestled within the walls of Wakeland’s Casa Anita, resides a man whose journey through life tells a tale of resilience and hope.

Meet Richard, a retired master welder who dedicated four decades of his life to the art of welding. His journey took an unexpected turn when, at the age of 58, injuries to his back, legs, and hips forced him to bid farewell to the sparks and flames of his welding career. Transitioning to low-paying retail jobs became a necessity, but life had more challenges in store for him.
