November Keystone Lunch Recap - Senator Steve Padilla

Last week, SDHF our final Keystone Lunch of the year at Parc Bistro and Brasserie with special guest, Senator Steve Padilla.

In addition to sharing the wins of SB 713 and other land use policy work being done in collaboration with SDHF, Senator Padilla discussed how workforce impacts access to housing with today's attendees. He spoke of the need to invest in housing production, workforce development programs, and strategic programs that support folks at every level.

Some ideas were shared among the Senator and attendees. One suggestion was a GI Bill in California that would incentivize industries to invest in living wages for their employees so they could live close to their work. "The (housing) market is moving faster than the wages can keep up. Jobs aren't keeping up," he said.

Thank you to Senator Padilla for spending time with us and thank you to Wakeland Housing and Development Corporation for sponsoring this lunch event.
