2021 COVID-19 AFFORDABLE AND SUPPORTIVE HOUSING SHARING AND INFORMATION SESSION 1: SUPPORTING TENANTS USING TECHNOLOGY-BASED STRATEGIES

Due to COVID-19 and social distancing protocols, affordable and supportive housing providers (and your supportive services partners) have been utilizing telephones and technology to stay connected to and support tenants who are increasingly struggling with months of isolation. In the context of remaining socially distant during this current surge of COVID-19, affordable/supportive housing and services providers are seeking creative approaches as well as resources to help tenants through the pandemic, while also supporting a sense of connection and community. Some tenants have become more engaged with this shift to technology, however, others experience significant “digital divide” barriers in seeking to connect socially and/or with services.

Join this session to learn from organizations San Diego who are leading the way in:

  • providing access to technology (e.g. access to computers, phone chargers, etc. as well as internet access),

  • providing training and support to help people feel comfortable using technology,

  • reducing barriers that tenants face when engaging with supports and services telephonically/remotely,

  • connecting tenants with the resources they need, and

  • how to best engage with tenants virtually.

Presenters include NAMI San Diego, Access to Independence, 211 San Diego, and San Diego Futures Foundation. We also look forward to hearing from you and your creative efforts to support and connect with tenants, who are facing social isolation, depression or may be suffering from distress.
