Suicide Prevention: Question, Persuade, and Refer (QPR) Gatekeeper Training
Every 16 minutes one person dies by suicide in the United States. One person a day dies by suicide in San Diego County. Resident Services Coordinators can make a positive impact in reducing these statistics through relationships with their residents. Question, Persuade, and Refer (QPR) Gatekeeper Training is designed to provide the basic skills necessary to recognize the warning signs of suicide, know questions to ask and offer hope and help to someone in a suicide crisis. Just as CPR is for the heart, QPR is for the mind. As a QPR-trained Gatekeeper, you will learn to:
- Recognize warning signs of suicide
- Know how to offer hope
- Know how to get help and save a life
