WHY:
Over the past few years, our community has watched as homelessness continues to impact individuals and our neighborhoods; the Hep A crisis engulfed our streets; access to affordable housing has become ever more difficult; and new housing production has failed to meet the needs of our most vulnerable citizens.
We know that the only solution for homelessness is a home. It is time for something to be done.
The Homelessness and Affordable Housing Bond will provide funding for the chronically homeless on our streets to have a home. It will create a safety net of housing for seniors, veterans, youth transitioning from foster care, and people living with disabilities. It will begin to build homes for the many low wage working household who struggle to find secure, affordable housing for their families.
Please attend this meeting on July 31 to show your support for a real solution for these families and individuals. Let your Council Members know that we need them to act, and that they should give the voters of San Diego the opportunity to decide on a real response to the housing and homelessness crisis.
