COVID-19 Affordable and Supportive Housing Sharing and Information Session 8: Challenges with Engaging Residents
Register now for the next Affordable & Supportive Housing Sharing and Information Webinar focused on the challenges and solutions of engaging residents.
Our series of online webinar convenings will continue to explore crucial issues for the affordable and supportive resident services and property management community in San Diego related to the COVID-19 crisis. The following groups/topics will be discussed:
Seniors: In a world of social distancing, staying connected to our elderly community has become a greater challenge; seniors are particularly vulnerable to COVID-19. As a Resident Services Coordinator, it is important to stay connected to the older generation to continue providing services and resources. Technology has become a lifeline and in this workshop, we will discuss how to safely connect during the crisis by providing wellness check-in’s, virtual activities, and essential items during a shortage of supplies.
After School Programming: Curious about how to implement After School Programming in a COVID-19 world? If so, this training is for you! We will focus on not only how to support our children with acclimating to a new way of learning and staying connected socially, but also how to be sure their parents/ caregivers feel fully prepared and confident to do so as well. As a Resident Services Coordinator, it is important that we can support families by implementing programs, with proper safety measures, working within the community to develop new and innovative programs and develop necessary partnerships to offer additional educational support needed for our children to succeed.
Access to Technology: Since May, San Diego for Every Child has been co-hosting with Classroom of the Future Foundation the Equitable Distance Learning Taskforce. As a central theme, this Taskforce has grappled with technological barriers through the lens of distance learning, especially with regard to out-of-school time. In this presentation, attendees can expect to hear about cross-sector collaboration in the time of COVID (and beyond), some of the biggest challenges and also opportunities with regard to technology, and resources for residents and organizations. The conversation will also cover the importance of non-technical supports, which have been identified as just as critical if not more so, for equitable distance learning. Speaker: Erin Hogeboom, from San Diego for Every Child
