WHAT TO EXPECT
The 2019 Annual Membership Meeting will be held on Monday, March 25th followed by the LISC San Diego Sponsored Roundtable: Talking About Homelessness and Affordable Housing – Winning Communications and Media Strategies
Throughout the state of California successful efforts to raise local revenues have relied on the creation of narratives that resonate with the public. This roundtable will engage participants in a dialogue about how we talk about homelessness and affordable housing in order to support these kinds of winning narratives.
Moderated by our own Stephen Russell, presenters will include Ruth Bernstein, President & CEO of EMC Research, a firm that has provided election polling and research for many successful candidates and ballot measures around the state; and Tom Shepard, President & CEO of Tom Shepard & Associates. Among Tom’s many successful ballot measure campaigns are Prop. C for San Diego’s downtown Ballpark District, Prop. A for expansion of the city’s bayfront Convention Center, and numerous land use-related campaigns throughout the state of California. Shepard served as Mayor of the City of Del Mar, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the American Association of Political Consultants.
