THURSDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2014
(with pre-conference institutes on Wednesday, October 15)

The San Diego Housing Federation’s 23rd Annual Affordable Housing and Community Development Conference brings together hundreds of top leaders and experts in affordable housing and community development.

The event draws nearly 350 attendees each year from the 35 affordable housing developers, the local housing and redevelopment agencies, elected official staff, homeless and mental health service agencies and others involved in creating affordable homes in San Diego County. Our 2014 event will focus on the connection between affordable housing and health, including the impacts that lack of affordable housing has on public health, the role that supportive housing can play in promoting health, and the potential of affordable housing to promote healthy communities

Thought leaders and practitioners from across San Diego County and California will gather on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Jacobs Meetings & Events (formerly Market Creek Events & Venues) to learn the latest information and trends in affordable housing, connect with one another and walk away recharged and inspired.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Same Great Sessions and Presenters, With a New Focus

Every year the conference offers specialized tracks in:

  • Design & Development
  • Housing Finance
  • Emerging Trends
  • Policy and Advocacy
  • Supportive Housing

This year we will also introduce a new track on Outreach and Influence, with sessions designed to increase the capacity of affordable housing professionals to communicate and advocate effectively for more affordable homes.  See full tracks and session descriptions.

Also this year, as an overarching theme, our program will explore the intersection between affordable homes, individual health and community well being.

  • How are health and affordable homes connected?
  • How can advocates from both areas reach over, connect and work together?
  • What are the opportunities and benefits gained through collaboration?
