Comments Due on Parks
Program |
A draft of guidelines for the State's
Housing-Related Parks Program has been released by
HCD. The program is designed to encourage cities
and counties to develop new residential housing by
rewarding those jurisdictions that are in compliance
with State housing element law and that approve housing
affordable to lower-income households.
Housing starts for new affordable housing units
that meet the affordability requirements for extremely
low, very low- or low-income households determine a
jurisdiction's eligibility. Minimum grants are $75,000
and are based on the number of units of affordable
housing that are created. Bonus points and additional
grant funds are determined by neighborhood park
deficiency, progress on achieving RHNA goals, the level
of affordability, and infill projects. Grant funds must
be used to create or rehab parks or to purchase park
equipment. Comments on the draft
guidelines are due by July
28. |
