Lynn Wehrli Resigns from CTCAC
Lynn Wehrli, Executive Director of the California Tax Credit Committee gave her notice to resign this week. She will be leaving in six weeks. There has been no formal announcement of what Treasurer Phil Angelides will do next.
Employer Assisted Housing Tax Credit Introduced
On Wednesday, the the Housing America's Workforce Act of 2005 was introduced in the Senate by Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY), Gordon Smith (R-OR), and Mel Martinez (R-FL) and in the House by Representative Nydia Velázquez (D-NY). This essential piece of legislation offers an innovate local solution for increasing affordable housing opportunities by providing federal tax credits for employers that provide downpayment assistance and rental assistance to their employees earning less than 120% of the AMI. The bills also exempt the assistance from being counted as income to the employee.
Housing Trust Fund Campaign Reaches June Goal
At the beginning of June, Century Housing offered to match every dollar up to $50,000 donated to the California Housing Trust Fund Campaign. Well, the campaign raised $50,000. Century matched it at $50,000. That's $100,000. Combined with the individual and organizational donations above and beyond the match, the California Housing Trust Fund made $120,480 in June.

However, this is but a drop in the bucket towards the $8 million dollars needed to win the campaign. While most of the that will come from a broad coalition, the money for this early part of the campaign must come from the affordable housing community.
