TCAC Issues Final 2010

The California Tax Credit Allocation Committee
(TCAC) staff has issued its final proposed 2010
regulations, subject to approval by the full Committee
at its meeting February 17. These follow a series
of public hearings and an open comment period. Three
changes remained as originally proposed. Fifteen other

Housing Commission
Appointments On Tuesday |
The City Council will
consider Mayor Sanders' nominations to
appoint one new member and reappoint
two incumbents to the San Diego Housing
Commission. Roberta Spoon of Ocean Beach has
been nominated to fill the seat held by Sal Salas.
Spoon is a CPA and founding partner of Brodshatzer,
Wallace, Spoon and Yip, a full service accounting
firm. Her community service activities include
serving as president of the YWCA of San Diego County.
Allen Sims and Jim Waring have been nominated for
reappointment. The Mayor's Memorandum can be
viewed here. The meeting is Tuesday at
10:00 AM at 202 C Street, 12th
Floor. |

Foundation Pursues Reg'l Vision
Tomorrow |
The San Diego Foundation's Civil Society Working
Group is holding a series of visioning sessions to see
what county residents want the region to be like 50 to
100 years from now. What are the shared values and
priorities for the quality of life of future San
Diegans? What is the natural environment, community,
economic development, housing, health, education,
employment, and cultural and civic life that we desire
for our children's children?
The seventh convening on The Challenges and
Opportunities of Imagining the Future of the Greater San
Diego Region, co- hosted by the El Cajon Community
Development Corporation, will be held Saturday,
January 30 at the Ronald Reagan Community
Cente, 195 East Douglas Avenue, El Cajon 92020.
Breakfast is available at 8:30 a.m. and the program runs
from 9 to 11 a.m. Space is limited. RSVP immediately to

Tuesday Deadline for NHTF
Allocation Comments |
Tuesday, February 2 is
the deadline for comments to HUD on the proposed
allocation formula for the National Housing Trust
Fund. The current proposal would result in
California receiving $193.2 million (19.3 percent of the
funds expected to be available) for new affordable home
construction targeted to extrememe low and low income
families. The allocation details are here. Visit
www.regulations.gov and type in National
Housing Trust Fund to make comments. Just a couple of
sentences noting your support and that of your
organization for the allocation plan is
sufficient. |

Managing Development Risk
Roundtable Next Thursday |
Managing and Insuring the Risks of Non-Profit
Housing Development is the topic of the next
Affordable Housing Roundtable. It is scheduled
Thursday, February 4 from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m.
Speakers are Jeffrey Masters from Cox, Castle &
Nicholson, LLP and Bruce Newsom of Binney, Chase &
Van Horne Insurance. They plan to arm attendees with
practical and legal strategies to manage construction
and operational risks in non-profit development.
Participants will learn how to identify and manage
construction and asset management operational risks.

Federal Reserve Prez to Speak

USD's Burnham-Moores Center is hosting a breakfast
February 22 featuring Federal Reserve Bank of San
Francisco President Janet L. Yellen. She has been
President and cEO of the San Francisco Fed since 2004
and is Professor Emeritus at the University of
California - Berkeley's Haas School of Business. She has
written on a wide variety of macroeconomic issues, while
specializing in the causes, mechanisms and implications
of unemployment. The breakfast is from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at
the Joan Kroc Center for Peace and Justice and the fee
